Day 1:

Your guide will meet you on arrival in Johannesburg at O R Tambo International Airport or he / she will pick you up at your accommodation establishment in Johannesburg or Pretoria. Depart via Standerton and Newcastle to Dundee in the province of KwaZulu Natal, which is also known as “The Place of Heaven”. Dinner will be served at the lodge’s restaurant. Overnight in Dundee.

Day 2:

Early departure for a day of history and battlefields, visit places that still exude an ambience of a once mighty Zulu nation, such as the “Battle of Blood River”, the Anglo-Zulu war battlefields of Isandlwana and Rorke`s Drift. Return to Dundee for the night.

Day 3:

Travel to the Hluhluwe / Umfolozi Game Reserve, in by-gone years this reserve was the hunting grounds of Zulu Kings. Spend the rest of day in search of the “Big 5” and a host of other animals. Dinner will be served at the camp’s restaurant. Overnight in Hluhluwe / Umfolozi.

Day 4:

Take a cruise on the St Lucia estuary, a lake riddled with crocodiles and hippos in the Greater St Lucia Wetlands, which is also one of South Africa’s six UNESCO world heritage sites. Depart after the cruise to Shakaland. Lunch will be available at the hotel before check-in. Enjoy Zulu hospitality at its best with a traditional Zulu festival and feast at Shakaland. Overnight in the beautiful “Nkwalini Valley”.

Day 5:

Travel to Giants Castle in the Natal Drakensburg Mountains, also known as the “barrier of spears” via the historical city of Pietermaritzburg, stop for lunch in Howick at the Howick Waterfall. All meals are served at the lodge’s restaurant. Overnight in the Natal Drakensberg Mountains.

Day 6:

A day at leisure in the beautiful Natal Drakensburg Mountains where Bushmen left their life stories in the form of paintings and drawings on the rocks and in the caves. Visit Giants Castle cave for a guided tour or take a walk along one of the numerous nature trails in this park. Dinner is included tonight and will be served at the lodge’s restaurant. Overnight in the Natal Drakensberg Mountains.

Day 7:                                                                      

Return to Johannesburg the commercial hub of South Africa. Township tour of Soweto – reflect on the “Apartheid” era of South Africa’s history. There will also be time for last minute shopping before we say our goodbyes at the airport or we drop you off at your accommodation establishment in Johannesburg or Pretoria.
