11 Day – Kruger To Limpopo Tour


Duration:  11 Days / 10 Nights

  • Accommodation is subject to availability, if the under mentioned accommodation is not available we shall endeavour to supply comparable facilities.
  • The standard of the accommodation is on average a lot better than our grading, due to the fact that we have selected the best accommodation available for each category at each location.

Car Hire:

  • Various car hire groups as per your budget.
  • Hire from Johannesburg / Return to Johannesburg.
  • Includes – contract fee / unlimited km / maximum insurance cover.

Day 1:

Morning arrival in South Africa. Our representative will be at the airport to meet you and hand over your travel documents (vouchers). Collect your hired car at the rentals office at Johannesburg’s  O R Tambo International Airport. Visit “The Cradle of Humankind – Sterkfontein Caves”, a World Heritage Site – for a guided tour through the evolution of man. Overnight at our charming little lodge in Kempton Park – Johannesburg.

Day 2:

Travel via Middelburg, Belfast, Dullstroom and Lydenburg to the province of Mpumalanga and the “Panorama Route” of the majestic Drakensberg Mountains, admire the natural beauty of the Blyde River Canyon – third deepest canyon in the world, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and God’s Window. Overnight in the beautiful Sabie River Valley near Hazyview.

Day 3:

Today is spent with a local ranger on an included open vehicle safari in the Kruger National Park (20 000 km² of pristine African bush) in search of the “Big 5” and a host of other animals. Overnight in the beautiful Sabi River Valley near Hazyview.

Day 4:

Free to relax or try a new adventure: river rafting on Lower Sabie River (depending on local conditions), “kloofing” or “canyoning” down river over waterfalls & cliffs or exploring the bush on a 4WD quad bike or “tree topping” or ballooning. This evening if local conditions permit, you may like to visit Shangana traditional village to learn about the life, customs and traditions of the Shangaan people, visit the local healer and watch their singing and dancing while sharing a traditional feast in typical huts. Overnight in the beautiful Sabi River Valley.

Day 5:

Drive to the Moholoholo Animal Rehabilitation Centre, which is dedicated to the conservation of endangered species & rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife. Then visit the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (Kapama Cheetah Breeding & Research Centre). Overnight in the Karongwe private game reserve, which is also roamed by the “Big Five” – lion, leopard, elephant, rhino & buffalo.

Included daily activity:

  • Open vehicle afternoon / sunset safari with a local ranger.

Day 6:

After an early morning game drive in an open vehicle in the reserve, you depart for the world-renowned Kruger National Park (KNP). Enter the park through Phalaborwa Gate, spend the rest of the day in the KNP. Meals can be cooked by you or had at the camps restaurant. Overnight in the KNP.

Day 7:

Enjoy a full day traveling north through the KNP. The Kruger National Park is known to be the most diverse park in the world with 140 mammals, 119 reptiles, ± 506 bird, 55 amphibians and ± 1980 plant species. Overnight in the KNP.

Day 8:

Still in the far northern reaches of the KNP, visit Crook’s Corner on the border between South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight in the KNP.

Optional daily activities:

  • Morning – guided walk with the parks rangers to the Thulamela Ruins, former seat of wicked King Ingwe and beautiful Queen Losha.
  • Open vehicle night drive with park’s game ranger.

Day 9:

Depart from the park via Punda Maria Gate. Travel to Tzaneen, visit Modjadji Cycad Forest Reserve, see the oldest and largest baobab tree in the world – with a pub inside its trunk!!, and visit Sapeco Tea Estate, lunch on the estate at the Pekoe View Tea Garden. Overnight in the beautiful Magoebaskloof Valley.

Day 10:

Travel to Warmbaths (Bela Bela) via Pietersburg (Polokwane), the capital of the Limpop province. On route you visit Bakone Malapa, a Northern Sotho living museum and then “Elephant Back Safaris” for an elephant interaction with these amazing creatures and / or an elephant back ride. Overnight in or near Warmbaths (Bela Bela).

Day 11:

After a leisurely morning and breakfast, you drive back to Johannesburg, the commercial hub of South Africa. Drop-off your hired vehicle at the rentals office at Johannesburg’s O R Tambo International Airport. Catch your onward flight or evening flight back home.
