Day 1:

Morning arrival in South Africa. Our representative will be at the airport to meet you and hand over your travel documents (Vouchers). Collect your hired car at the Budget and First Car office at Johannesburg’s O R Tambo International Airport . Depart to Pretoria for a city tour that includes the Voortrekker Monument, Paul Kruger House, Church Square and Union Buildings. Overnight in or near Johannesburg or the Jacaranda City of Pretoria. Our recommended restaurant – Carnivore Restaurant at the Misty Hills Hotel.

Day 2:

Travel via Middelburg, Lydenburg , Robbers Pass and Pilgrim`s Rest to Hazyview situated in the province of Mpumalanga, meaning “the land of the rising sun”. Spend a couple of hours in the old gold rush town of Pilgrim’s Rest, a museum in its entirety. Overnight in Hazyview.

Day 3:

Travel the Panorama Route of the majestic Drakensberg Mountains, admire the natural beauty of the Bourke’s Luck Potholes, God’s Window and the Blyde River Canyon, which is the third deepest canyon in the world, lunch along the way. Depending on availability – you can enjoy some African culture with singing, dancing and dinner at Shangana, a traditional Shangaan village, meet the chief with his 3 wives and 36 children. Overnight in Hazyview.

Day 4 & 5:

On day 4 on your Safari to South Africa you will depart for the world-renowned Kruger National Park (KNP). Enter into the KNP through Phabeni Gate. Drive through the park to Lukimbi Safari Lodge, arriving in time for lunch and your included afternoon / sunset open vehicle game drive. Enjoy the next 2 days in the heart of the African bush in search of the “Big 5” and a host of other animals. The KNP is known to be the most diverse park in the world with 140 mammals, 119 reptiles, ± 506 birds, 55 amphibians and ± 1980 plant species. Overnight in Kruger.

Day 6:

After a leisurely morning, you depart from the KNP via Crocodile Bridge Gate. Enter Mozambique at Komatipoort border post, which is an experience in itself. Travel to Maputo where you catch a 10 minute charter flight to the tropical Inhaca Island. The island is set in the Indian Ocean, whose calm, warm waters are perfect for leisure pursuits. Overnight on the island.

Day 7 and 8:

Spend these two days relaxing on the island or enjoying a host of optional activities, such as deep sea charter fishing trips for the opportunity to catch King / Queen / Mackerel / Tuna and Barracuda, excellent snorkeling at Santa Maria Bay, 4 x 4 drive / hike to the historical lighthouse or take a romantic sunset boat cruise to Portuguese Island. Breakfast and dinner will be served at the hotel or at the one and only Lucas Restaurant, which serves up superb food. Overnight on the island.

Day 9:

After a leisurely breakfast, you make your way back to the mainland by boat. Travel back to South Africa via Komatipoort border post. Overnight near Malelane.

Day 10:

Back to Johannesburg, the commercial hub of South Africa, drop-off the hired car at the Bidvest Rentals office at O R Tambo International Airport . There will be time for some last minute shopping before your departure.

  • Optional activities: Township tour of Soweto, with an accredited guide.
